Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology Launches AI-TEC Club and National Materials Genome Program

Hyderabad’s renowned college, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT), has made a significant stride in the field of advanced technology by launching the National Materials Genome Program. The event, held at the MGIT Auditorium on 17th May 2024, was organized in collaboration with BRANE Enterprises, Hyderabad, and marks the inauguration of MGIT’s newly formed Artificial Intelligence Technology Club (AI-TEC Club).

The launch event was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. Shiva Rudraraju from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, who inaugurated the AI-TEC Club. The National Materials Genome Program, conceptualized by Brane Enterprises, aims to revolutionize the way materials and their associated products and systems are displayed and utilized in India. The program leverages advanced AI technology solutions to create an AI-enabled e-platform that showcases nearly 10,000 materials along with their Indian products and systems.

The collaboration between MGIT and Brane Enterprises is expected to pave the way for numerous innovative projects and research opportunities. The AI-TEC Club will serve as a hub for students and faculty members to explore and develop cutting-edge AI solutions. This initiative is also expected to enhance the learning experience for students by providing them with hands-on experience in AI technology and its applications in various fields.

The Materials Genome Program will be supported by MGIT students, faculty members, and key advisors including Dr. N. Eswara Prasad, Advisor (Research), MGIT/CBES, and Dr. G. Chandra Mohan Reddy, Principal, MGIT. Their collective expertise and guidance will be instrumental in the successful implementation and growth of the program.

Dr. G. Chandra Mohan Reddy, in his address, emphasized the importance of integrating AI technology in educational institutions to keep pace with the rapid advancements in the tech industry. He expressed his optimism about the positive impact that the AI-TEC Club and the National Materials Genome Program will have on the students and the institution as a whole.

Dr. N. Eswara Prasad highlighted the significance of the Materials Genome Program in fostering innovation and research in materials science. He also acknowledged the support of Brane Enterprises in bringing this visionary project to fruition.
